Ecoles internationales du Labex Palm

Two international schools have been organized in 2018 on 2 topics of PALM. They were both funded by PALM.

The School looks place in a convenient Conference Center in the Chevreuse valley. The center can accommodate all the participants in a large park, a few minutes walking distance from the RER station connecting to downtown Paris in 40 minutes.

MICROBIOPHYSICS : PHYSICAL APPROACHES TO UNDERSTANDING MICROBIAL LIFE

28 August – 6th September 2018  –  Gif-sur-Yvette (near Paris), France

This PALM international and multidisciplinary summer school aims to bring together world-leading physicists and biologists interested in microbial life, international students (masters students, graduate students, post-docs) and young and senior scientists, to provide a comprehensive overview of the current progress, and to stimulate further interactions and collaborations. Microbiology lecturers will introduce the fundamental concepts of microbes and will present the most recent research results in biology while physics lecturers will expose the many facets of the current biophysical understanding of microbial processes.

ATTOSECOND SCIENCE: FROM ULTRAFAST SOURCES TO APPLICATIONS

28 May – 1 June 2018   –  Gif-sur-Yvette (near Paris), France

The PALM International School 2018 aims at providing a large and comprehensive review of the field of Attosecond Science, from the generation and characterization of attosecond light sources to their use in the study of ultrafast dynamics in different states of matter. It will cover topics spanning from the development of ultrafast sources of visible,  XUV and X-ray radiation to the study of isolated quantum systems, of condensed phases and of collective attosecond dynamics. These topics will be presented by leading scientists, who will cover both the basic principles as well as the state-of-the-art of the field. The courses will aim to be accessible to students and young researchers from the master to postdoc level.
